Hello!
I've built a website on Wix before, but I've never messed with blogs until recently when I agreed to help a friend set up a blog site since I had prior experience with Wix. One thing we are trying to figure out now is the comments on the blog posts. When someone joins as a member it default sets their displayed username as the first part of their email address or the name attached to their Google or Facebook account. Is there any way that members can change this displayed name? We are worried that many people may not want this information about them public and would rather go by a nickname or just their first name, which may not be default based on the system in place. This is especially something we are considering as the blog's target audience is somewhat on the younger side (pre-teens and teens).
Also, I enabled "Guest Commenting" and tested it out. It did not allow me to input a nickname. Is there a way that a guest commenter could provide a name or nickname so that they do not have to be completely anonymous? On my other (non-blog) website, I added a comment box that allowed people to comment if they gave their email (not displayed) and a name or nickname. I think this system works well because people could choose what they wanted to be known as and it gave me the option of blocking the commenter by their email if the need arose. Are there any options like this for blog comments, or is this more of a "wishlist" thing?
Thanks!
