Adding a TOC is necessary for some longer articles/pages/etc. Even though using the anchors is useful to provide an interim substitute, this is not really how TOC are generated. And the are some drawback to this method - this below in my proposals for the TOC.
As I understand Wix is still working on this feature and I hope to see it soon deployed for the Wix Editor.
I would like to propose to Wix developers and Prod Mgr some features/behaviors for the TOC:
Current way of using anchors to mimic TOC is a good interim solution, but it has some drawback. For example, if a user clicks on the link generated through the anchor and then hits the back button, instead of going to the TOC, the browser goes to the previous page. I tested this behavior with Chrome, Edge Chromium, Mozilla, and Opera and the behavior is the same, whereas the expectation from the user would have been to go back to the TOC (top of page maybe?)
Have the possibility for TOC to be, for example, on the left side of the page and to remain "still" (or frozen) by highlighting the current topic. Once the user advances to the next topic(s) the TOC remains "still", but the highlighting advanced to the next topic and so on
Include a quick link for the TOC subjects (or at least for those considered important by the page designer/owner) in the form of www.example.com/PageSubject#topic1 or something similar to this (the browser would be able to display this in-page address in the status bar of the page if this is activated). Something like this may be useful for SEO purposes, I guess.
Totally agree with the TOC being on the left/right side of the article. It looks so much slicker and allows readers to click through while reading rather than having to scroll all the way back up again to click on another section. See the top right-hand side for an illustration of what I'm talking about.
As you work on that still. Would be great to have a TOC that might be freezed for example right side of the site and moves as reader advances with the text.
I tried this again on this linux performance post. It looks good on desktop version. the mobile version is not very expected. it might be related with my phone. so I remove this on it.
I need a ToC like partmyday described. Anchors just don't make the cut! Thanks!
Is the TOC not available yet in Wix blog. The TOC similar to the Wix articles in Wix blog would be a game changer
Hey All,
You could build table of content by using anchors in the blog post. Please read about it more here.
you still not have Table of contents ?

@Simona G. Can we add a customized anchor name like the title name? For exmaple #howtodo not #view-19939? Thanks.

Hey,
Great examples!
However, we made it easy and from now on you can build table of content by using anchors in the blog post. Please read about it more here.
Let us know how it works!
Hi Team,
Adding "Table of Contents" is an essential feature for lengthy articles and they help a lot for SEO. Request you to provide this feature soon.
Thanks in advance

@Theherbalist I just finished a python script to get the table of content automatically. It will save us a lot of time to get this. Have a look.
4 steps to add table of content to Wix blog
I saw it, works perfectly 😁
@Theherbalist I got it working. check it out. Linux multipath examples
Thanks a lot @Theherbalist . i think it should work..
There is a way, I spent hours trying! You will have to code a little bit, but you don't need previous experience: this article explains everything.
If we can have this kind of table of contents, that would be best.
how to add "In this article " to our blog? my website is howtouselinux.com.
@Simona G. any progress for this topic? or do we have other workaroud for this? Thanks.
