Yes, single post container is responsive. This means, it adopts to the post contents and you do not need to leave empty space after single post container. It will automatically stretch if post will be longer. Just move footer or next widget you use right after single post container.

Thank you for reply, Julius! I've tried to move the footer but nothing happens. White space is still there... :-( I'm going crazy!
