Since Wix is forcing my viewers to create an account before they can comment, Is it possible to link to the login/signup page? I want to be able to link it directly, hoping to make it easier by having the link right in my text/sentence instead of trying to describe where they need to navigate to find it. When I click it, it appears to be a popup, not an actual webpage with a url.
Hi,
Could you please elaborate why do you want to link to the login page? The login page will pop up the moment a visitor who is not a member will try to like or leave a comment :)
What more is there to elaborate? I want to be able to have a TEXT link to my sign up page. I don't want a popup.
@KristinCali But it is not a page, it is a pop up. This is how it was built.
I added your request to trigger an open of this popup to our wishlist. Stay tuned :)
BTW, as I said before, I don't think that you need to explain to them how can they find it, because the moment they will try comment, the login screen will pop up. What do you think?
@Maya Ekron Kristi is not asking for a login page instead of a login pop-up, I believe she doesn't care how the login appears (page or popup). She wants to be able to have a normal textual link on any possible PAGE on her website, that link would then open the login pop-up on the blog post page...as I believe the login pop-up probably only works on blog related pages so it would probably direct you to the blog page, following an action where the login pops-up.
If it is hard to understand why one would want this feature, here's an example from an "About Me" page. At the end of the about me text one would possibly want to write; "...this is my story, if you liked it or want to interact with me , head over to the blog and SIGN-UP"
I want this functionality for another reason. I am administrator of a company website, and I want members of the staff to be able to login to the blog to write a blog post without logging into the WIX Editor/Dashboard.
At the same time I don't want the login/sign up link to show hovering over my blog posts as I dont want any sign-up or commenting functionality for visitors of my website. But when I hide the login/signup link there is no way for my staff to login to write posts via the website.
Got you. And what if we could give your staff members a limited access to your dashboard? so they could see only the blog page? Would it work for you?
@Maya Ekron That would maybe even be better, as the blog page has a big "Post Article" button at the top whenever a staff member is logged in - which gives them the wrong impression of the page, they too also want to see the page as guests see it for "proofing".
I can off course only speak for myself, maybe others would prefer this directly via the blog page in a subtle/hidden manner.
On a more general note; all this functionality of search, login, hearts, likes, comments and categories maybe makes sense for an extensive blog or someone wanting to engage people on their site, but for us, a small architect office, we don't need this clutter. We just need to be able to post news items and with a bit more customization options to the new wix blog, it's almost perfect :)
@Johann M Kjartansson Got you :) Thank you very much for elaborating. We are working on a solution for this case, stay tuned!
Hello! I'd like to add a "Become a member" button to a different menu. Is there a link I could use to send people to the signup page? Or any chance to place an additional "signup" button (in a Lightbox window)? Thanks in advance!
Hi @danvanmoll,
So a solution for you would be to create a button that would link to a page on your site, which can be the "Members" page that is installed with Members area and the Blog. You just need to make sure that the members' area page settings are set to "Members Only" permission, this way, if they try to access the page, they would get the message - login to connect with members.
This can work for any page if that page's setting permission is set to "members only":
Hope this helps!
@Rafal Zacharevič Thanks a ton, that really helps!
