the blog team is fully concentrated to developing the new blog. We are not adding new features to the old blog anymore, and we are not going to support the bug fixes in the long term perspective too.
Regarding your main concern - blog post page customisation - we are working on enabling it for existing blog users. New users who install the blog already get it with the post page customisation possibilities - can re-size the post page window and add any editor elements in the side bar; can toggle off the recent posts or Wix comments system (and add third parties providers system); can change the font style of the title and text of the post page. More widgets, layouts and flexibilities are to come.
The changes are coming soon, we do appreciate a bit more of your patience.
Please, please also add the ability for us to attribute post authorship to an author who is not on our team. I have several guest authors (like hundreds) and I can't waste the time to create an account for each of them. They email me their blog post, I format it and get it into the Blog app in Wix, and (until the new blog migration) I would set the author field to their name. That field has been replaced with a drop down of approved writers. This is crazy. I'm the site owner, please let me attribute authorship to whomever I desire. This needs addressed ASAP.
What would the point be? I don't think anybody sees this except the people developing the New blog. I think you need to get complaints to the WIX account management/ownership somehow.
They do read and respond to those, I've tried with Wix complaints and Help multiple times, all I ever get is 'add it to the wish list' / 'thanks for feedback' / 'we're constantly improving' but it's been over a year and nothing. The final straw was the inabilty to alter the post blog page, which is insane to not allow the blog owner to edit. It's a basic cheap blog they've farmed out to save costs and clearly are not going to do anything about, they're pushing more and more toward small business/e-commerce and ignoring blogger/blog-heavy sites, it's a passive cull.
The new blog in a downgrade from the old one.
Features from the old blog, that are missing in the new one:
Tags were on top of the post
I could choose which other posts are related to this one and have them appeared on the bottom (the new one just shows recent post)
Having the option to select a few post and change their tags or categories at once. In the new one I have to go one by one.
The new blog has many errors in the blog website page. I counted 3:
- slider post is not switching to the next post
- tags sometime duplicate with the same name
- In the post list (on the website page) some post don't show their title, some do,
-
The old blog was just great!

Maybe that explains it. It certainly seems like the new Blog team doesn't have the support or resources they need from WIX.
