it's been four odd months since New Blog was forced on us and despite most of the forum being about how bad it is, and all the wix cronies saying 'wish list it' and 'we're working on it' zero has actually been done. still can't alter pic sizes, font (ffs), blog layouts; basic stuff. it's shameful. bring back old blog or fix new blog. or just admit blogging is not your focus anymore, stop leading folks on.
I am totally gutted. I changed to the new blog, old one gone and now I am stuck about simple things like photo sizes, fonts and for the life of me cannot understand what is the point of forcing a 'community' log in on blogs. www.seasonsincolour.com/blog
Hi,
during past months Wix Blog has shipped many product updates, including post page settings, editor role, pagination, blog elements toggles, integration with Wix code not to mention improving the SEO and performance. Many crucial features are to come soon (AMP, scheduling, Analytics, new plugins, mobile view settings and more). We are collecting user feedback which helps us to set direction for the Wix Blog plans, so your opinions are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
@fbt Could you please specify what exactly is missing in terms of blog layouts?
@EVGENIA GIANNOULOPOULOU You can toggle off the log in, please read more here.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond but it's been months and the blog is still incredibly basic, just check any of my other posts for lists and frustrations, not being able to alter font or add your own linked blogs beneath the article (what does it use to chose those 3 that randomly appear?), chosing your own social links (still with G+ - which I don't have, just looks unprofessional), the basic choices of how you can chose layouts for blogs on other pages, the list goes on - basically anything that was in Old Blog that's not in new Blog is the issue. and the photo editor is shockingly basic and the way the blog lets you place them is ruinous. It just doesn't work, period. And it's frustrating. Like others I have no choice, blogging is the point of my site and therefore it's no longer fit for use so I have no choice to be go elsewhere, which is also frustrating as without doubt, Wix is the best, most user-friendly, beautifully designed web-builder out there. Plus the staff, like yourself are always on-hand, knowledge and friendly. It's just the blog that's unworkable, other that that I rate Wix so very highly.
Hi @fbt,
again, I am very sorry to hear your frustration. I would love to schedule a call with you and tell more about specific Blog plans that address your needs. If you are up to chat, please email to blog.feedback@wix.com and we'll schedule the time that suits us both.
To shortly answer to your comment:
- very soon all users will be able to customise the font style (font, size, color) for title and description both for feed and post page, as well as control the font style separately for mobile.
- we are working on allowing users to customise the social share icons they want to display, removing G+ and adding more options like LinkedIn.
- layouts. It's possible to customise the blog feed or featured/popular posts widgets look by using the Wix Blog Posts collection and Wix code. Please refer to the comment here where I give short a intro to it.
- current recent post widget display 3 most recent posts within the category of the open post, so it has a logic. Soon with post page settings users will be able to switch off the recent post widgets and add any custom elements in the side bar.
- photo editor is a product developed not by blog team, so it would be appreciated if you send the feedback to support who will address it to relevant department.
Will look forward to hear from you on blog.feedback@wix.com!
Hi @Simona Griskute I do appricate the offer to chat further, it's kind of you to want to reach out - the problem is you're saying 'very soon' those things will be rolled out, but that's all we've been hearing for months now - font at least should have been a launch-point option!
But again, I appreciate you trying to explain and support the bloggers. And thanks for the explenation on the recent posts, I see that now. I'd still rather the ability to chose, but I can see the logic as you say.
On the photo editor I'll e the support but it's the same as the blog really, a very basic photo manager - I can do more on my phone with photos than I can in there.
@fbt I have big respect for the blog team, and Wix.com in general, however i have to agree with you. All we hear is 'Very Soon', 'Soon', 'It's in our plans' - yet i don't see anything for like 6/7 months. I agree with you on this.
Hi @fbt, @Robert Hamilton, @EVGENIA GIANNOULOPOULOU,
again - we are happy to have the discussion here. It proves that the Wix Blog is important and we all have a reason to work hard to help our users achieve their goals with the Wix Blog.
During past months the Wix Blog shipped many product updates therefore it is not correct to say nothing came out in that time (post page customisation, editor role and new flow of adding writers and editor roles, pagination, blog elements toggles, integration with Wix code, adding AMP, improvement of SEO, performance). Many are to come, like scheduling, analytics, mobile settings, new widgets and customisation options.
We understand the Blog is not perfect but that's the reason we're coming to work everyday - to make it so. Your cooperation and feedback along the way plays a huge role. Thanks for both the support and criticism!
I wholeheartedly agree with Sandra on this one guys. To many things that are actually very simple changes in the grand scheme of things are taking a lot longer than normal. Look, we appreciate the work you guys are doing and continue to do. All we are saying is, development is slow, it’s as simple as that! You mentioned above pagination you launched, that was more than 4 months ago Simona, let’s talk about the last month or two....very little. Sorry but, we are ALL getting fed up now. I’m a big big big supporter of the blog, but at this rate I am getting seriously annoyed.
Hi,
glad to say that your feedback pushed the process further - the G+ icon has been removed:
Next - more sharing options and possibility to customise, which sharing options to display.
Excellent! Thank you Simona
This is great! Thank you guys!!!
Thank you Simona/ WIX.
Also noticed the word counter was replaced by a character counter which is not as useful. Working on SEO and google expectations means we need to track words used and not characters used. Is this something you can also look into please?
Hi, is there any chance to add a comment section without signing up or log in from other users? In the old wix blog I used facebook comments plugin. I wish it could be that simple again. Also, when will the font style feature be back again?
Hi @James Evangelista,
if the post page settings are available on your site, you can toggle off the Wix comments system and add FB comments plug-in. Using the same settings you can change the font style of the title and text in the post page.
To check if post page settings are enabled on your site, please look for 'Go to post page' at the bottom of the main Blog settings:
Very soon post page settings and all the features coming with it will be available to all Blog users.
The new blog in a downgrade from the old one.
Features from the old blog, that are missing in the new one:
Tags were on top of the post
I could choose which other posts are related to this one and have them appeared on the bottom (the new one just shows recent post)
Having the option to select a few post and change their tags or categories at once. In the new one I have to go one by one.
The new blog has many errors in the blog website page. I counted 3:
- slider post is not switching to the next post
- tags sometime duplicate with the same name
- In the post list (on the website page) some post don't show their title, some do,
-
The old blog was just great!
