I really don't understand this feature to force people to create an account / log in to be able to just like or comment our blog posts. Of course we will loose all of them in the process and end up with no comments/likes ! Honestly this is once again a stupid idea from Wix. I am starting to wonder if I will not find another better blog editor as I am really pissed with wix now ! Other features on this new blog app are annoying (can't set up the "share on social media" buttons, can't properly design the presentation of each individual post (like with the old versions of blog). I just hate it !
Hi @cyliacr,
let me answer your concerns:
- we understand the need for the comment possibility without the sign-up. It is already available for new Wix blog users and we are working to introduce it to the existing users in a short time. The solution will allow to toggle off the Wix comments system and add the third-parties providers comments system available in the Wix app market. This option on your site is already enabled.
- Very soon you'll be able to customise which social share elements to display, and you'll have more options to choose from.
- The option to design the single post page is already enabled on your side (I have explained in another thread how to access post settings).
Do you are saying that we can't turn off the mandatory login for likes and comments but the new user can . . How can it be possible?! So you've better chances to enjoy the features when you start using wix than when you are pioneer
@alexandrinamarqueslisboa Hi Alexandra,
post page settings along with the possibility to customise usage of elements in the post page was a very technically complex solution and launching it to new users first was a well reasoned product decision. We are working on migrating the existing users to the new settings too.
@Simona Griskute You will loose existing users very soon Simona. I think patience has run out. We put up with blog issues for years but now that you can pretty much assign the transfer of all your files to companies who do just that - transfer of blog elements from wix to wordpress) this will no doubt start happening. We feel very let down by WIX support, and I am surprised that all the answers are by you - is there just one moderator for the entire community?
I moved to the NEW BLOG yesterday - so I am a new user or an existing user? Because My blog also shows that my readers need to log in.
Hi @EVGENIA GIANNOULOPOULOU,
it's sad to hear that Wix support has let you down. Could you please describe the exact cases or provide the ticket numbers? I would escalate this to the relevant department.
If you installed the new blog just a day ago, you should see the post page settings (look for 'Go to Post Page' at the bottom of the main blog settings):
To toggle off the log in button, please refer to the instructions here.
As for the community - it is big and it is growing along with the Blog users base. Several people from Wix Blog team are keeping the touch with the Blog users in the community forum - you can find comments by @Maya Ekron, @Mario Bañares and others.
@Simona Griskute That is not working. The log in to comment is still there.
Hi @Anneli Sjöblom,
the link above refers to toggling off the display of members log-in button on the top of the feed/post.
To remove the log-in, you need to remove the Wix comments system and then, if you wish to allow readers to comment, add Comments app or Facebook comments plug-in, which doesn't require log-in. Please follow the instructions below:
1) From main blog feed settings, access post page settings:
2) Click Settings:
3) Choose Display--> Recent post&comments:
4) Toggle off the Comments:
Please read here more on adding the Comments app.
