Currently testing the beta migration feature.
To my shock, the feature does not include comments and likes: " Comments, likes, and your design selections (fonts, colors, etc.) do not transfer." As anyone knows, comments and likes are the lifeblood of any active site. This is a total show stopper!
Secondly, does the migration process Copy or Cut old blog content? As a safeguard, I would request Copy in the event the migration goes wrong.
Please advise, thanks.
Good to know, thank you.
Does the migration tool CUT or COPY old blog posts? Is the procedure reversible in the event of errors?
I fully understand that the development issues are challenging. However, imagine that you are a site owner who has spent many thousands of dollars, grassroots marketing and a good dose of viral luck to build a passionate audience? Only to lose all that traction for the sake of changing platforms? It simply won't happen. Ditto Wix's migration feature under development for Wordpress. The latter, in particular, is where Wix could knock it out of the park by attracting the millions of WP users to its platform! I can only urge that your biz dev folks look at this issue more carefully. Thanks.
I have client sites with old blog posts containing dozens, even hundreds, of reader comments. These comments are vital to the site's activity. How do these comments get migrated??
Hi Eric,
thank you for the initial feedback.
As the migration flow suggests, your posts are copied from the old blog to the new. After the first step (posts being automatically copied from the old blog to the new) you can take as much time as needed and review your feed and single posts pages or do polishing if needed. Your new blow remains hidden and it doesn't affect anyhow your old blog.
Proceeding with the second step mean you are updating the URLs of your posts, meaning that after completing the second step the links of your old posts will redirect to the new blog. You can decide what to do with the old blog - keep visible, hide or delete it.
