Simply put, we really need the new blog to allow us to attribute authorship to someone who isn't a member and doesn't have credentials on the site.
In the previous version, an administrator could create the blog and then type in an "author's name" so that the name would be displayed in the various feeds after publishing. I have several reasons for needing this, but I don't think I should have to list them. Just please, allow me type in an author's name when I create a post. 99% of the time, I'm publishing a post that I didn't write. I need to attribute credit to the real author, but currently that is not an option.

NOTE: I have spent several hours perusing the support material. I know that (in theory) I can grant a member "Writer" privileges and then the assign them as a post author, but that process is not documented anywhere I can find, and I can't even give credit to a fellow administrator because her user name shows up and I can't change her actual name. I just need to be able to type in an author's name, not select from a dropdown of approved writers. This is a useless "feature" and should be replaced with a text box--though ideally, it would be both options--a dropdown of stored authors, and a text box for a non-member/admin.

When I imported the old posts to the new blog, the free-text authors that had previously been added to each blog post were all converted over to be my username (i.e. the unfriendly, username, not my actual name). After some poking around, it suddenly (for reasons I cannot explain) began displaying my real name as the author. And, I began adding contrinutors so that I can go back and edite EVERY FREAKING BLOG POST to add the correct authors to them. BUT, when I do that, it only displays the username, not the real name. I don't know what to do. It is just a mess. Whoever designed this new blog did a terrible job. Terrible. Is there any help out there? They help system is of no use whatsoever!

Let me shortly guide you through the writers flow:
- you have to create the account for your writer first - to sign-up on the page and provide author credentials (to be able to sign up on your page, you can to install members area app if you don't have it yet)
- when access the Blog on your live site --> Click to access the members page --> Click the Show More (3 dots) icon on the relevant profile --> Click Set as Writer --> click Confirm. Please read here more about this step.
- then in the post settings you can select the writer from the drop-down menu. Please read here more.
How many writers/authors do you have? I am thinking how big is the effort for you to create accounts for them. Maybe they can do it themselves?
About the problem of giving credit to an administrator because - please contact Wix customer support by 'support@wix.com' since it is members area related.
