It's bad, unfinished and under developed. for example ...
you can't filter blogs by keyword/hashtag
no single post page anymore to tailor it and add additional links
you can only chose a number of blogs no pagination so most blogs get lost
the designs are basic and you can't alter them and they don't sit well on the pages
no preview field anymore, you can't tempt people in it just repeats the first few lines which looks terrible
custom feed will change font but not the px size so they’re oversized and cut off.
The shortcut to new blog (the pen icon) has gone from the side-bar in editor
the list goes on, it's ruined websites that are designed as review sites.
They should run both blogs in tandem not try to force sites into some sort of sub-Tumblr meets Insta rip off.
it needs to be pulled or the old blog updated until it's actually ready to be used.
+Eric, coincidentally that's when my Wix payment is due. Quite the deadline ...
I just spotted another basic issue with the new blog - the old blog allowed tags, the new doesn't, least in the same way - a useful way. I could create a page the add a feed filtered by a tag, but you can't with the new one, which would force you to create dozens and dozens of blog categories to create relevant pages. It literally only works like a social timeline - and is just as disposable. so frustrating.
Simona, while your feedback is encouraging, it unfortunately lands of deaf ears.
We keep hearing changes are coming. I'm not aware of any recent updates to the blog as you suggested... please detail. Three of my customers have already moved back to WP, and just recently I learned that Shopify offers a very effective blog (with a user comments moderation panel!), so if Wix expects to be competitive in ecommerce, for example, Wix also needs to provide a top notch blog.
That Wix is not willing to provide release dates tells me that no upgrades of any material consequence are on the horizon.
Like many on this forum, my business is dependent on the Wix blog being comprehensive, competitive and fully formed.
I look forward to a comprehensive array of upgrades to the Wix blog no later than end of Q1... March 30. Yes??
The wix community ask for features, but not a single time someone adress the currently pagespeed. Instead of adressing some nonsense, i whould take a look on this. Google wont take your site anytime serious, if your loading speed is about 25 seconds. Just saying, most of you taking the challenge complety wrong.
Hi +Simona, appreciate the comments.
However, I'm not continuing to pay a premium for an unsupported product, that's far too risky. New Blog just doesn't work for me or my site, it's not a blog you can build a library or narrative in, it's an in-the-moment social posting page. We've got Facebook, Tumblr and Insta for that. I'll stick with the Old Blog until the New Blog is fit for (my) purpose as a review blogger, and that will likely mean moving elsewhere if it's not suitable before my contract with wix runs out in a few months.
I joined wix for many reasons, all good ones, I think you guys are incredibly supportive and I can't believe the site I got to build with your help, but the blog was the clincher; it was the best on the market for my needs. It no longer is.
Hi All,
The Wix blog team cares, listens and develops the new Wix Blog to best meet users needs. The driving force towards this direction is users feedback so we take your voice seriously.
We update the Blog app continuously to improve both the features and performance. Currently we are working on most of the missing blog functionality - post page customisation, re-sizing of blog window, flexibility in comments system, pagination, scheduling features and many more) to be launched in the near future.
In the long run we are not going to support the old blog - introduce new features to it, address bugs or update this version. We will not remove the Old Blog from user sites, so in essence, old blog can be used forever, however, if there are any issues with the Old blog, we will not support it.
We aim to develop the new blog to outgrow the old one and recommend users to switch to new blog (using the automatic posts and URLs migration tool that we built).
If you go to the App Market and type in the search field blogger you'll see the app. here is a screenshot as well.
Where do you see this app?
I just realized there is an app for blogger to plug into the wix website. It has everything needed and more for a beautiful blog. I will drop wix blog and just go with blogger plug in. Perfect solution I think. Hopefully they won't fail me.
I've used Wix.com for a long time now. However, if there is one product that Wix has released which always fails its users, it's the Wix Blog. It always has been the case. I am starting to see more engagement (from my point of view) from Wix Blog, however, in the past few months i have had some serious concerns about this product. Is it just me or does the blog look way to much like the Wix Forum and the way it works? It's very much 'social' orientated. If i wanted a social type blog, i would take my Posts and put them on Facebook and not a website. I want a website style blog, and one that is suitable for a news blog. Not a 'How to make cakes' blog. It's a bit of a joke how they introduced the new blog, with LESS features than the older one.
Lol - how is that even feasible to justify to users? It's not like the features the new one came with were ground-breaking, because they weren't. If they were i would have maybe understood this move more.
As a paying user, i wish to see more features and quicker. I was told that the blog's new infrastructure meant they were able to deploy and develop new features faster. Was that a joke? It's slower than ever. For me, the best thing that can ever happen here is that they introduce Wix Blog API's for Wix Code, so i can use the ground level database and infrastructure but build and design the layout, and features myself. Wow, i nearly forgot the loading time of the new blog. That's for another day...complete joke. What annoys me is, Wix always get annoyed when users are honest about this. Why? We are really trying to help your product. Come on. This is constructive feedback.
While the old blog will no longer receive updates, I believe it will remain functional.
Wix got back to me directly via email and basically confirmed it's this or leave. No changes and 'old blog' will reach end-of-life very soon and we'll be forced to switch. Which is a huge shame because wix is by far the best web builder and their support is fantastic. I just don't understand why they can't have two blogs, an article-based one and a social-styled one. They're forcing people who aren't running time-sensitive blogs to go elsewhere. real shame but I'll be using the rest of my membership time to build a new site elsewhere then switch.
I am not even asking for anything fancy which is the funny part. I just want a few basics and common sense functionality that any blogger would need in order to do their work.
Three of my clients have gone back to Wordpress. I have serious concerns that Wix itself may be on the ropes.
Its almost like there are no User Experience UX people on their team to really take the time to understand and learn from users. They just went in and took a ton of functionality away without even giving it a second thought. Its very frustrating and if I don't see changes soon I will look for a another platform to move my blog to.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. I get the impression that Wix is all about graphics and not the basics of navigation and UI. This forum is chock full of desperate user requests for improving the new blog resulting in the standard reply, "we'll add it to the wish list."
