could you please elaborate more on your need? With custom feed you can choose how many posts to display in the feed. Please read here more how it works:
Basically I would like to showcase several posts on the blog feed, but only have positions for three shown at one time on the home page. Then using a slider function/loop/scroll function, show the other post summaries. Does this make sense?

Custom feed widget allows to set the number of posts you want to display. Please refer to the support article.
As for the slider function - it's not possible yet, but it's in our plans. Adding your vote for the features in the Wishlist. Stay tuned!
