I have had nothing but issues with this blog since I started it. I've wasted SOO much of my time trying to figure out what I want, and am so disappointed when I find out it's not even an option. If anyone has any suggestions, please help. Things I hate about it:
I cannot reply to people's comments?? How am I supposed to interact and network with people through my blog? Why would people want to subscribe if I don't even reply to their comments?
I cannot add social media share options to my individual posts?? It is 2019, are you kidding me?!?
My posts look like the MOST basic and elementary blog posts I've ever seen, and there's no way to make it to look any better. It is so boring, I wouldn't follow me either.
NONE of the great website customization is applicable on the blog. ALL of the same customization features should be applicable to the blog, why wouldn't they be??
Basically, I think it sucks and I am ready to leave WIX altogether just because of the blog. I really like my website and HATE the thought of starting over somewhere, I've put so much work into it, but I really don't see how I can grow my following and business with this ridiculous blog, if you can even call it that. Does anyone have a suggestion of another host I can go to with a better blog? Is there anyway I can just transfer my website instead of having to start over creating a new one?
Thank you.
Hi @Sandro Nocentini,
Could you please share the link to your site so we could double-check the formatting transfer, autoplay sliding, image expand etc?
You can write it here or email to blog.feedback@wix.com.
Still waiting for changes, the ability to easily change text within one blog, for example. All my old posts have lost their formatting when absorbed into the new bold, the autoplay sliding does not work in any of my posts, images open in a larger format even when the option is deselected and finally my blog looks very average and I AM NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Time to move on???
@Simona Griskute Thanks for responding.
As far as the share options, I can't even figure out how to add them to a particular blog post. I know it is a feature on the website developer, but once I click onto a specific blog post, all of those options go away. I spent HOURS and HOURS trying the html route for this and it did not work.
As far as it looking boring...my blog is literally just a block of text (which I can't even change anything about). I can add a few pictures (without much customization) and lines, but other than that it is completely boring. In the website development, I am able to just add a text box, drag and drop to place it wherever I wanted, use a bunch of different fonts, colors, etc, customize the pictures and put them wherever I want. Why wouldn't those same features be in the blog? I can't even put a small picture of myself off to the side outside of the actual post, or anything like that. It's just extremely BORING compared to all of the other blogs I've seen out there. Other blogs have snippets of things on the sides, bios about themselves, logos, etc. I can't do any of that. And the customization for colors and such is horrible. Just a block of color on top of another block of color and that's it. BORING.
And yes, the not being able to reply to comments is a HUGE issue.
Honestly, from what I hear, you guys keep saying things are "in your plans", but it sounds like you've been saying that for the past year and nothing has changed. Why don't you just scrap this new product and go back to the old blog? It sounds like that was WAY better. I am a very unhappy customer and have already started telling people NOT to use WIX if they want to grow a blog, in hopes that they can avoid all of this. Unless you have concrete release dates for these things that are VERY soon...I'm definitely going somewhere else as soon as I have the time to start over. Having to do that makes me so angry, but I don't think I will ever get anywhere or impress anyone with this horrible, boring blog and it sounds like changes are not coming anytime soon.
Thank you.
Hello @Simona,
I too am frustrated with the new blog and hoping that we will see changes soon -- sooner than soon, like yesterday! I realize that some of the frustration is getting used to the new settings feature, with basic functions organized differently and having to hunt for them, and at some point I'll get used to that, although it's going to be a real PIA for my clients who aren't as actively blogging as I am.
Six things are particularly annoying today:
1. Having to turn off comments on each individual post, and then having a line displayed that comments are turned off. Why announce that? My clients don't want to have to moderate comments all the time, and displaying that comments are disabled makes them look unfriendly. There should be the option to turn off comments AND not notify the world of that decision. I've already had a client complain about this.
2. The pop up text editing tool bar has been drastically reduced in the new blog, and simple changes such as to font size, color, style, line spacing, etc, can't be made without leaving the blog editor and going to settings. This is an enormous frustration and waste of time going back and forth until the appearance you want is finally achieved.
3. Relocating the tools for inserting photos, videos, galleries, dividing lines to the bottom of the blog is now extremely inconvenient.
4. There seems to be no way to style photos -- adding frames, making them round or oval instead of square. This is a nice feature I use often on my old blogs and one of several reasons I won't be converting my old blogs to the new one.
5. I hate, hate, hate how the categories are displayed -- they are either strung horizontally across the top of the blog page or you can turn off the display. Period, that's it. And no tag cloud ability. Sigh. Instead of making these a design feature -- see DeWriteSites.com -- it's just an easily overlooked visual clutter of undifferentiated words on the page. Ugh.
6. No ability to customize the social share buttons. G+is obsolete, LinkedIn and Instagram would seem essential, maybe others. And no ability to upload stylized icons to fit with the overall design of the site. Can't even change their color. Nor can they be turned off / undisplayed.
Thanks for listening and passing this feedback on. I'm looking forward to when I can be a raving fan about the new blog.
Hi @ashleybell.littlebellss,
we value all Blog users opinions so thank you for your time expressing it. Let me comment on your concerns:
- reply to individual comments. We understand your frustration and that this is an essential need, the feature is in our plans.
- each post can be shared on social media by using share function in the 3 dots menu or clicking sharing icons at the bottom of the post. Could you please elaborate which exactly sharing options are you missing?
- could you please tell in more details which customisation options are you missing? What makes your blog look boring and what would you need to make it attractive?
We are currently working on flexibilities in the post page - re-sizing the post page window to add editor component in the side-bar, toggling off Comments and recent post at the bottom, customising the font style for the post page title and text and more.
Hey, Wix won't let you transfer your website, it's a lockin - WordPress lets you import elements of your blog, pages, images so you can have the very basic layout.
The Old Blog had everything you needed (and everything else) but they're retiring it for New Blog which as you say, is not even remotely workable. As I'm sure you've seen, the forum is fille with folks venting but it's been over a year with no real change. Most bloggers are leaving, myself included. Shame since Wix does fantastic web building. For some reason they seem to be stepping away from bloggers. You can use Blogger, the app but it just works as a page on your site, not very functional. Best of luck, see you on WordPress!
