Your new blog is a sham! Who developed this - that person should be summarily executed. Who approved it? The new blog is not ready for prime time. Here are just a few problems: (a) it is basically a "dumbed-down" version of the old blog: for example, I cannot change the size of a font under a photo (the caption) - it is the same size as the paragraph font; (b) It looks awful! Square photos in the "post" page (where individual blog posts are listed) now are landscape design; (c) your damn new blog is even slower to load and edit than the old one - and that was no speed demon. Look: let me be blunt: the new blog is so fucking bad, the team that developed this should be embarrassed that this iteration even saw the light of day...I am so disgusted with WIX I am exploring options to say goodbye forever. Hello Robert,
I’m sorry to hear your disappointment, and want to assure you we listen to all of our users’ feedback in improving the Wix blog.
(a) We added your request for font sizes for image captions in the wish list.
(b) In the post page, the images appear exactly as you upload them. In the blog feed, they do display as a landscape because of the layout selected (One Column). If you want to change how the photos appear in the feed, you can experiment with 8 different feed layouts. In the near future, we’ll have many more layout customization options for you to try out.
(c) We are actively focusing on ways to improve speed performance.
If you have more questions, I’m happy to answer. We aim to have your blog transfer experience go as smoothly as possible and are ready to provide you any service you may need.
People have been complaining about these issues since October 2018 so far as I can tell. The issues I raise have not been fixed in the 18 months or so. I don't think they will ever be fixed - because there are too many problems - and you folks have done NOTHING...So please cut the bullshit and abandon the new blog because it was designed by idiots...the new blog does not work. Period. End of story.
Robert, I would appreciate if you could make a recommendation on alternatives once you've found a suitable solution. Thanks, dsanchez@workafter50.com
Good question - I am not a software designer..l just used the old blog, as slow as it was at times, to get what I needed done. However, I just started using the new blog - it is even slower to make edits. In a word, as I have often stated here on this discussion group: the new blog is awful. How could anyone releases software this bad? I would love to know the thinking behind the scenes at wix...Anyway, I await a fix from wix...but I don't think it is going to happen for two reason: (a) if you go back through this discussion area, you will see the same problems raised by users since Oct 2018 when the first version of the new blog was released; (b) you will then read responses from wix folks that fall along two lines: we are working on fixing that and/or we will cal your suggestion to the software team...and even sometimes: why do you want/need that change? Anyway, I don't foresee any fixes from wix - I just see excuses with the hope that those who complain just go away...
I hate the new blog. I don't need anything fancy, but even the limited text editing options you did have in the old version (line spacing, indenting, justification) worked. Now they either don't work or are gone. Super disappointing.
Hey! did you figure out a solution for this? I HATE reading (and writing) articles that do not center justify their text. For the life of me can anyone explain why this is an option that does not AT ALL work?? Also... where the F are footnotes????
Yes the new blog is a dumbed down version of the old one...the font sizes are basically two choices as one example of how the new blog is worse than the old one. One especially annoying feature is the autosave - suppose I decide I don't like what I just wrote/designed? There is no way to go back to the immediate (five minutes previous) predecessor - because there is the ridiculous autosave feature which cannot be turned off. My guess is that the new blog is easier to read (and looks better) on cell phone screens. But overall, the new blog is way worse than the old one, and I maintain it was designed by folks who have little experience in professional design. Finally, I have not noticed any significant changes in design, or added features, since the new blog was rolled out back in March.
Nope. 😒 I can't even figure out how to fake it. It has a button to justify, but it doesn't work. And it has a button to customize the line spacing but that doesn't work either. And yes rdcny, I also am not a fan of the autosave! smh.
It has messed up my entire blog! I can't even begin to describe how everything is now so jumbled. I called and spoke to a tech, but they couldn't help me. She said they needed to escalate it to a different department and someone would email me with a solution. 2 days later and still no email. I am running a blog and this disruption is not good. My categories links are all dead and only go to my main home page, rather than to actual blogs. It is so frustrating. I am ready to swith platforms@
The new blog is a failed attempt at something...though I cannot figure out what it was/is they were trying to do. It seems to me they wanted something that was much easier to work with for the general user (meaning not much selection of options such as different text sizes or fonts). I suppose for a "blog" that is not more than a general paragraph or two with one photo, the new blog is fine. BUT for anyone else with half a brain, and the desire to make a blog look nice - it is a disaster. I also speculate that the new blog came into existence because Wix wanted something that looked better on a cell phone (smart phone) screen - which is where most people are doing their online shopping or web perusing...However, since its roll-out in March-April 2020 it seems to me the new blog has largely been forgotten/abandoned. My guess is that Wix sees no value (as in money for them) and only technical problems that they do not want to hire technicians to solve (or deal with) - My guess is that the next step in the process is that they advocate using word press as a blog and linking that to your web site instead. Overall I'd recommend anyone new to Wix to get another support platform. I am not impressed with Wix or their contact ads for upgrading to a higher fee tier...
Here we are...I love wix and I use it for myself and my customers. But considering I pay for this service (as do they) your blog should certainly be as good as the free ones. But I fight with it all the time. Now I see that you've worked it over again. Please leave it alone. Just getting to the "Manage Blogs" link is strangely hard. Why?
