I was surprised today to discover, completely by accident, that Wix appears to have signficantly changed the way multiple authors can post to Wix blog.
The community blogging aspects seem to have gone (i.e. anyone used to be able to post, that appears to be no longer the case? e.g. You've removed the post button for all visitors of the site, which encouraged new contributions from the community)
The new workflow for approving new writers is unbelievably complicated.
This means that hours of work I have spent on a website design based on Wix appear to be in ruins. I will have to source another platform I guess.
What is going on at Wix Blog? It's not just the lack of communication that annoys me, it's the seemingly poor design decision making, because you don't appear to me to understand blogging, inconsistency, and the inability to fix or even identify the root cause bugs that are over a year old. Compared to Wordpress, this is a terrible experience. And Wix Support are a complete joke.
I have to be direct here because I have raised these issues numerous times before in the various Wix blog forums and also with support.
Hi @Scoobie,
thank you for expressing your concerns, it is important for us to hear it.
Since it is a change, it surely affects users. However, we have communicated about it to the users who were using the feature already (there was a dashboard banner). We are sorry that you missed the message and perceived it as silently made change.
We deprecated the all members can write feature because this is the definition of a forum and not the definition of a blog. We gave writer permissions to all of the members who had writing permissions, and from now on users can do it manually on their blogs (in the forum members became writers by default). Forum and blog are different products that are focused on addressing different user needs. When we created our Wix blog community we also started with the blog, however, several months ago we have decided to move to the forum since it much better address the idea and needs to maintain the community.
Despite the change made, you still can create a community blog / multi author blog. We have the members area, writer role, move ownership feature and the ability for the admin to edit and access his writers posts on BM. You can use these tools to create a great community around.
Nonetheless, I would like to ask you to keep the respect in the communication. This is a place to exchange ideas and foster meaningful, genuine communication. All of us including our support team are working really hard in order to make the best product to our users.
This forum is one of the channels that we use to be in touch with our users - we also talk to users all the time. Knowing their experiences and needs is crucial in building the blog that best meet users needs.
You feedback is equally important to us, so please email us to blog.feedback@wix.com, and we'll be happy to schedule a call to discuss thoroughly your needs.
