Is it possible to just show certain categories in the menu and hide others? That would be useful in my case.
Hi @orlowitg, it is not possible as for now, but I'm adding your vote in the Features Wishlist.
Could you please provide more context about your case? Why do you have this need? What such feature would help you to achieve?
@Simona Griskute Sure. I'd like to create and showcase different categories (which for me are just specific groupings of my blog posts) on different pages. So on my homepage, I have a "Start here" and "Featured" category, but on my blog page, I don't want the "Start here" category. And also I'd like to play around with different categories on different pages.
If I recall on the old blog, I was able to create such groupings without having them appear in a menu. Does that make sense?
@orlowitg Thanks for the context behind your needs!
@Simona Griskute Is this a new feature? I was expecting the ability to move the Category menu to other page locations such as right side. Please advise.
Hi @Eric Killorin,
indeed it is a new feature that we didn't have before.
We are working on allowing to re-size the post page and add elements in the side bar. It will be possible to create the 'categories cloud' manually then. In any case, your need for the categories widget has been included in the features Wishlist.
I second this! @Eric Killorin @Simona Griskute ! I would love to use my blog categories menu as my page's main menu but I would love for it to be movable from the actual blog and current set position. Simona, are there any other suggestions for this?
@Amandalina Letterio Hi, currently you can hide the Blog menu, in the future we're planning to offer categories widgets. Currently (if you have the beta version with the post page customisation) you can create the categories widget on the post page manually using the editor elements.
To check if you can access Post page customisation, check Blog settings (see at the bottom):
My menu doesn't have all these options. Do I need to upgrade my plan?
Hi @sarahkneafsey,
which options particularly are you trying to locate? Happy to help.
I would be happy if i could simply hide the blog page and just show the categories.
Hi @steinbergtourguide,
this is possible with the custom feed feature :)
You can hide the blog page and add the custom feed with assigned category to certain page of your site. Please read here more: https://support.wix.com/en/article/displaying-different-blog-categories-on-different-site-pages
Thank you! Another query, I would like to change the font and title of the Category feeds. I have no idea where I control them although I did manage to change the color of the title color, at least - not aware where I did that. thanks
Your welcome!
The titles of the categories can be changed in the Blog Manager in your Wix Dashboard:
The font of the blog menu (categories or navigation menu) is controlled in the dedicated settings (separately for the main blog page with the feed and for the post page):
Screenshots show how to access and change Blog menu style that is shown in the main blog feed. Please read here more how to access settings for the post page: https://support.wix.com/en/article/customizing-the-post-page-in-the-new-wix-blog
Thanks but still a problem
I can influence the page presentation text appearance of the All posts but not inside the categories. Now I know I did because the font and colors of the text there are my previous choices - just can't figure out how I did it....🙄😣
It seems there's a mapping issue cause the settings controlling the post title in 'all posts' feed and 'category' feed are the same.
Try to adjust these settings once again, then save and publish the site. If you see it's still different, please contact Wix customer support by emailing to support@wix.com.
To adjust the settings, please go to Design --> Post:
Thank you very much.
HI everyone! I would like to create a magazine and to see the category labels (fashion, beauty, health,etc...) directly on the menu (homepage) without creating the categories in a "blog". How can I do this? Thanks :-)
Hi @Anne-Sophie Castro,
The solution would be to create separate pages and add to it post list widgets that you filter by category.

Let us know if you have more questions!
This is helpful, except I want to show the Category the visitor is viewing, while not having the rest of the categories display in the menu bar. I looked for ways in Velo to capture the category being viewed and then assign it to a text element on the category page above the blog. But I didn't find a means to do that. Is there? Perhaps I can capture the URL of the category page being viewed and then use it to construct the category label?
I know I can set up separate pages for each category and use a repeater or blog element. But I was looking at using the built in function of the blog and category pages.
Thanks for any suggestions someone may have!
Hello @dougs,
One of the ways to do that would be to make a Dynamic Page based on the Category database. This way you could connect the Category's title to a text via a dataset.
Another way would be to use, as you mentioned, Velo. You can use the "wix-location" module, which allows your Velo code to read the URL of the page and make the text change based on that. Just be careful when testing this, since is might read the URL of the editor in preview, so it's best to test it on live.
More about "wix-location": https://www.wix.com/velo/reference/wix-location/introduction
I hope this will help you. If you'll have more questions or need a helping hand, make sure to reply here or email me at rafalz@wix.com
Good luck!
@Rafal Zacharevič Thanks for the guidance.
Please allow me to make a request regarding hiding/showing the blog menu. If the blog menu is hidden, do not hide the search function. Instead, display the search box, but filter search results to the category that is currently being viewed.
Having a search specifically for the blog collection is a great feature of the blog element. Hiding the menu is a means to focus the user on a specific category, but we very much want to retain that great search function--for the specific category.
Thanks again.
Hello @dougs,
There's a possibility to hide individual elements on the Blog menu instead of hiding it entirely:
You can also use Wix Site Search which lets you search for items across your entire website.
The request of having a category-specific post search is new. May I ask for what purposes would you require such a tool?
Hi! I just renamed the default category title. The new name shows well on the editor, but it doesn't on the published page. I've saved all changes several times, and cleaned up the caché, just in case. But nothing. Any advise?
Hello @marceloaguirrepsi,
Can you send me a screenshot, showing me how it looks on both published and live?
I'm having trouble finding it.
Thanks and looking forward to your reply!
@Rafal Zacharevič Sure! There it goes. Thanks.
Hello @marceloaguirrepsi,
Thank you for this feedback.
I have registered your issue and will let you know once it's fixed.
Thank you for your understanding.
