I've noticed recently (after my entire web site was created) that I cannot reply to an individual comment in the blog. Ordinarily, the commenter would get an email that someone replied to their comment and check it out. But the way things are set up now, the only way I can reply to a comment is to create an entirely new blog comment. Why is that a problem? Because someone following a post would get an email notification about every single comment listed under the post. They should have the option to only see those who replied to their comment.
See the reply button under the comments on this board? That's what we should have on our blogs! This is so basic to every blog I've ever seen that I'm astonished it doesn't exist on Wix. Obviously, Wix knows how to create it because it exists on this discussion board! I'm actually surprised that more people aren't complaining about it, as it's SO IMPORTANT to developing a personal relationship with people who engage with our posts.
Am I being clear?

P.S. The Comments App in the app market apparently can't be applied to individual blog posts, just the over all blog, according to the abysmal reviews. There are also a string of one-star reviews for the Facebook comment plug-in, so I'm not risking it.
You are so right!! I hope they look into this! Thank you for sharing. I see an option to share comment but not reply yea that needs to be added, that's more important than sharing the comment if I'm interacting with my visitors on my site.
I know! I had a blog reader write to me to say she had to turn off all email notifications from my blog as she was seeing notices not only from other commenters, but also my replies to them. None of that had anything to do with her! Whenever I bring this up with Wix, they say, "Oh, it depends on how many VOTES we get to request this feature." WTF? What that means is that a frustrated Wix blogger has to go digging around in the help pages, using crazy keywords, until they finally stumble upon this page, which is where you can vote:

Obviously, I encourage you to vote for this feature. But come on, Wix! This is Blogging 101! I would also encourage you to submit a ticket about this. Here's the link:

You'll have to fill in a few things, and then they'll present a tutorial box on how to use the blog. UNDER that box, you'll see the words "Click to contact," which are in a small font in light blue. Obviously, they don't really want to hear from us. But I would encourage you to submit a ticket with this complaint. If our blogs grow over time, which is what we all want, the comments section will simply become too unwieldy for serious use.

And as you mentioned, answering individual comments is standard today, so I don't understand why this is not an option
Hi Aviva. Thank you for your feedback! I've contacted Wix about this, and they say they're waiting for the right number of "votes" before they make this feature a priority. As I said to the woman above, a "reply" button (like what I'm using here) is fundamental to any blog!!! Without it, a follower's email inbox will get cluttered with email notifications about OTHER commenters (and my replies to them). As my blog is growing, this is becoming a mess, and followers are changing their settings to get NO email notifications.
I encourage you to do two things. So that you don't have to scrounge around for this dumb and buried VOTES page, here it is:

We understand how important is getting the right notifications for your readers and we will work on solution for that.
In addition, You can use the Comments App from the App Market instead of the built in one.
Here's how
As I stated in the original post, the reviews for that Comments App are terrible. Multiple reviews say the app isn't working for individual blog posts. Apparently, every single comment for any of the blog posts are added to that Comments App. Additionally, you have to pay for that app down the line. A fully functioning blog should be part of my monthly Wix fee, which is what was promised. Wix understands the importance of the reply button as it exists on this discussion board! Just install it on our blogs as well! You administrators have something that we users want too! The reviews are also terrible for the Facebook comments plug-in, which I also stated above. I feel like Wix wants to squeeze more money out of me with that Comments App. I might have paid for it, with resentment, but it's a dud. Mary Ann

Heath, that whole explanation is totally above my head. While I appreciate you directing me to that page, I didn't understand the first sentence. But I shouldn't have to, really. Wix promised us a fabulous blog, and being able to reply to a comment is a rock-bottom basic. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops or spend more money to engage with my blog readers in a sensible and easy way. The whole idea of Wix is that everything is supposed to be easy, right? But again, I thank you for your help.
Hey Wix. Is there any update on improvements to the comments section? We want to see a "reply" button under every comment. How much longer do we have to wait? It's so very basic. I mean, it's on THIS blog, fer chrissakes. It's a basic feature in every blog! I don't want to switch my web site host AT ALL, but this is important.
Hey Wix, this is all coming up again on the Wish List section. We've all been asking for this reply-to-a-reply feature for almost a year now!!! This is infuriating! Stop adding all the fancy new crap until this is FIXED. Is it really such rocket science? And please stop saying to send a wish ticket, or whatever the hell that is. We're sick of it! What's the ETA on this feature? It's BASIC. Get it?

Every feature and suggestion is very important to us, however we improve our product based on many requests and prioritise them accordingly. I can't give you have an exact ETA when this will be released, but this is in our plans.

Thanks for the response, but it's really quite insane that this hasn't yet been fixed, considering this feature flows in your own help blog so effortlessly. What would it be like for you to have to read every single comment on every single post before finding the one you'd like to answer?
I would think this feature's popularity (and NECESSITY) would simply be understood. Developers in other discussions on the Wix Blog are complaining about it too, saying those they build sites for are unhappy with the lack of this "reply to a reply" feature. I think the dissatisfaction is a bit more far-reaching than what your "request priority" is suggesting. This isn't some fancy doodad we're all asking for. It's at the root of the most basic function of a blog, which is communication.
Hello, thank you for all of your comments about this horrible issue. You're like a light in the wilderness that is Wix. If I had known that I could not respond to the very people who I have asked to subscribe to my site, and engage with me, I never would have invested money in Wix. It just never occurred to me that it would not be possible to reply to someone - it's utterly insane. I actually had to individually write people on their email addresses that they left to subscribe to my blog posts. Stunningly, ridiculously stupid. I've added my vote to the wishlist and sent a "request" through the bot system. I'm right there with you Maryannfarely118; thank you for your perseverance and during the pandemic too! I'll keep at it myself. I just can't bear the thought of spending more money on an app either to get to reply to people when I've already invested money in my wix site for a blog. But I have reached out to others to see if it is even reasonable to use it. We shall see. Onward! Barbara
