I am currently trying to build a food blog/website. I have imported all my blog posts/recipes from Wordpress which was great, but I wanted to adapt the posts so the recipes themselves could be easily distinguished in a recipe card. I am aware that there is a Recipe App but iit's awful and doesn't work so let's pretend it doesn't exist. It would be great if we could use all that Wix has to offer in the Editor to build our own custom recipe cards within the blog posts. Is this something that is possible or is there an alternative? If not, I will need to look for another platform that will give me this freedom.
Thank you,
Francesca
its 2023 and they still haven't added anything worth using...they had provecho for a while and now that has been eliminated. The plug in they offer has terrible reviews. recipesgenerator.com seems to be the only option
is switching to WP still the only option or has anyone found anything else to work with?
Wow, still no other options for recipes? I don't understand why WP has so many options compared to Wix. What a bummer. May switch to WP if this issue isn't addressed.
I voted. My client might not use Wix now and will go with another developer for WP. Bummer. Please create a recipe card feature ASAP!!!!!
Hi everybody! We understand that it is an important tool for all of you, so we created a public Feature Request that you can vote on. We will send you an email notification once Recipe Cards are built!
@aylen labriola I just looked at it again... each site they have listed as an example (from their testimonials) has a search bar and you can use specific foods to search them out. I'm not sure what you mean by food related buttons. Each of theirs had their own topic (i.e. appetizers and then a sub menu within that, but I know that it is categorized through their website not the Recipes Generator). They do have the "jump to recipe" buttons, too. The one website I looked at they had listed was https://cookingwithcarlee.com . I hate to switch bc I love Wix and have become so familiar with the platform. But I agree that it seems more for online shops/merchants or even in-person businesses. I might try the generator just to give it a whirl. I'm not sure what else to do otherwise. Im currently just writing mine out within my post, which looks so amateurish and non-professional.

is there an update on this? how can we vote for a recipe feature? or a search bar that is recipe-friendly? but yeah, the recipe app sucks, I mean, it has its purpose but it's not as useful as the ones in WP. The fact that they are not working on this is ridiculous.
Is there any update on this, or how we can vote for this feature? Appreciate the comment above regarding not being able to share specific timescales but would be good to know whether this is something that is even being considered? Otherwise, as others have already mentioned, wordpress is starting to look like a more viable option for recipe blogs...
Having a plug-in for the blogs that you can easily input the necessary details would make it much easier, such as: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chorizo-rosemary-pearl-barley-risotto
Where is the link to vote for that feature? I cannot believe there is no option for recipes and than there is only 1 plugin with terrible reviews....
Absolutely agree that wix should have a recipe plug in. All my recipes look amateurish compared to WordPress or other Recipe blogs on other platforms. I've been with Wix for close to a year now and feel Wix is more suited to an online shopping website rather than for blogs. Some basic features like this one and absence of mobile Pinterest pin feature definitely is a big disadvantage. Many requests have been made but not seen any development. I guess all developers are busy building features for big websites not for bloggers?!
How can we upvote the suggestion for a new recipe app?
Have you tried The Recipes Generator?
It's the best tool to make recipe cards for WIX.
Check it here: https://www.recipesgenerator.com
Hi, I would also really love this feature to be available on WIX. I absolutely adore WIX for the freedom to do so much all by myself (without knowing code) and design my site just the way I like it, but it's been tough not having the possibility to insert a recipe box/card or at least more editing tools in one single post to create a distinct recipe area in a single post... Especially that it seems like every single recipe blog I visit (that's not on WIX) has very nice and clear recipe boxes in their posts along with a really cool button "jump straight to recipe", the option to change measurements, quantities and so on.. While these options are fantastic and truly improving the UX, I'd be satisfied with just a recipe card/box to start with.. Otherwise, just like @therosemarythymes I'll be forced to leave WIX... and I really don't want to do that..
@Rafal Zacharevič (or anyone else on the Wix Team), is there any way to see this feature as a requested/wish-listed feature somewhere were we could show our interest in it by voting for it and track its progress..? (like in the attached photo) If so, I'd appreciate the link. Thanks!
Hello @therosemarythymes,
Your vote for recipe cards has been added to our feature wish-list along with the print recipe function.
There are a few workarounds for now thought:
One of the ideas, would be to use the recently added possibility of adding files to your posts. You could allow users to download your recipes in either a .pdf format or as images. The upload button can be found here while writing a post:
The other idea would be to use coding. You could create a collection on your site where you would write down the recipes and later display them in a container on your Post Page. To do this, you would need to work with Wix Corvid which requires some coding knowledge. If this idea interests you, I will be able to offer my personal assistance.
I hope this helps!
I agree that this is needed. I too have a food blog and running into that problem as well. Would be great if a print recipe without photo button was available too
