Hello, my goal is to encourage my readers to share my blog posts on their social media. The current options greatly inhibit this because they are small, black and white social icons at the bottom of the post that do not call the user's attention and are easily missed. I'm afraid many Wix bloggers suffer the same issue thus limiting the scope of our reach.

As you can see, the above icons are so easily missed by users.
In attempts to get around this, I added custom Facebook share and Pinterest save buttons. However, the Facebook button is so old and outdated, and I cannot customize the size of either button.

My request: Please allow for more flexible social share icons that let users share the blog articles themselves, not just our entire website.
For example, why can't these icons share the blog post? It seems like a very logical and easy thing to implement that would bring tremendous value to the Wix blog community.

Thank you,
Gabe
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
Right now we allow to toggle off the build-in sharing options for the Post Page.
If you disable the sharing option (or even without disabling), you can add in the post page your own options, directly from the Editor options or you can also build the sharing icons by yourself anywhere on the post.
@Mario Bañares Thanks for the reply.
When you say I could add in the post page my own options, could you be a bit more specific in your guidance as it relates to my specific question? I spend many hours in the editor and I've looked around quite a bit for features I need, so it would help to have specific directions if you do in fact know of a solution here.
To restate my goal, I'm looking for more options (i.e. icons and flexibility) with the social share buttons on my blog post page (that is, so users can share the post they're looking at), and not to share the whole blog. Can you provide more tailored guidance than just "directly from the editor?"
Restated a different way, is there a way to automatically insert the blog post link into an icon or button on the post page?
Thank you!
Gabe
Hi @Gabe Orlowitz,
Yes, what you are trying to do it is possible. It requires to use Wix Corvid on the Editor, but don't be afraid of it, it is very straight forward.
I have been looking for the documentation how to do it, but it is very text heavy. On the other hand, I found that some users of Wix published videos on how to achieve this on other pages, and it is the same to do it on the Post Page. You can take a look to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb31PIBP5LQ
Let us know how it went!
@Mario Bañares Okay thanks. I tried this woman's code out, but it doesn't work correctly. That is, it shares the page, but then when I go to a new page, the button still shares the post from the previous page. In other words, the share link doesn't update. I'll have to troubleshoot and dig into some forums, unless you know what's happening here.
@VenkoG Thank you for comments.
I think there is a much easier way to calculate the URL of the page when you are on the post page. The post object has the postPageURL, so you just need to add the baseURL and the postPageURL and there you have. Here is an example:
In this way, every time you access a new post, the URL is recalculated and displayed correctly.
In regards to the position of the element, the post is pushing down all the elements that are placed under it when the post is longer than the one you had while editing the post. It also happens the same when the post is shorter, the gap between the post and the elements should remain the same. Is it not happening like that to you?
Your example is much better Mario. It is working only on first blog post. If you click another post from the first post - it is not working. OnReady function is triggered only once. That is why Location onChange is needed.
I have tried simmilar approach. Will try this one as well. Thanks.
In my scenario the post is over laping the other elements.
Absolutely necessary this request. We should not have to program all this code, nor waste all this time. Please, wix!
While you're at it Wix, please add a reply button after each comment. Right now, I have to create a whole new comment to reply to someone's individual comment, but then the whole feed gets an email notification instead of just that one person. So many basics missing from the blog. Even the layout of the comments looks ugly.... Too much space between each one. What are you guys doing over there?
Completely agree. It's unfathomable how behind Wix can be with absolutely BASIC features like commenting and replying. I can't stress enough how much of an engagement killer the sign-up form is for blog viewers just trying to leave a comment.
Any viewer in their right mind sees the "log in to comment" and thinks "ha! no way!" and is less likely to return to the blog, whereas they'd be MORE likely to return after leaving a comment, because they've left a part of them on someone's site.
And the advice to just "use corvid" is somewhat insulting. I appreciate that they offer support, but to just paste a link to the corvid homepage and say "figure it out" is not what I would call great customer support. It took me WEEKS to go back and forth with various folks around the world to just implement custom social sharing buttons on my blog post page.
Basic, basic, basic features.
@Gabe Orlowitz Pudiste solucionar el problema de los comentarios anónimos? alguna solución?
Hi! I am still new to Wix. We just started using the blog feature. I cannot find a setting to turn the blog social media sharing on or off. In the live site when I click on the social media icons it says "Your message couldn't be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive" Any ideas??
Hello @Laura Reiser,
You can control the visibility of the social sharing icons in the Post Page settings:
Hope this helps!
ok grazie mille
