Suppress category menu on posts/all post feed/category pages.
The ability to suppress or customize the header on posts, All Post Feed and Category pages is sorely lacking. Not all sites want to display categories in this way. Please add the ability to hide this menu, or at least customize it.
I too would like to be able to hide the categories menu and all posts from my blog. I can't even figure out how to change the font colour so I could hide it that way.
@NMWMM Thanks for the comment. We are working on allowing to change the font style (font type, size, colour) of the categories menu as well as hiding it, it will be possible soon.
New blog lacking a number of sorely missed (and needed) attributes from the old blog. Specifically: control over Category list location (new blog fixed to top horizontal), Recent/Featured Post Feed no longer that of a compact slideshow, Recent Posts container missing, Tag Cloud missing. See: https://www.olympiancars.com/blog and https://www.olympiancars.com/new-blog-beta
thanks for posting your needs. You can add a recent post widget to your site or featured post widget. We are working on allowing to have a side bar in the post page to be able to add blog elements there. As for the Tag Cloud - tags have been replaced by hashtags, which gives you a list of all posts with that tag if you click on it. Nevertheless, I am adding your needs for Category menu location control, slideshow layout and tags cloud to the features Wishlist.
The recent/feature post widget lacks the slideshow functions of the corresponding widget in old blog. Specifically, a compact footprint displaying numerous post summaries.
I have registered your vote for the slideshow layout of the recent/feature post widget in the features Wishlist.
You can create an index of the hashtags yourself using text/buttons elements and adding links directing to search results of the specific hashtag. We are working on allowing to customise a post page on the new blog which will allow you to add the index of hashtags in the sidebar of the post page.
I also have this problem, my blog has two languages English and Portuguese and I want to be able to customize the categories menu on each page to match each language! Do you have any suggestions on how I can do this? I have hid the original menu with black buttons but honestly it's not pretty, and a reader told me that it is annoying having to go back to the main menu to access categories. Little things like this make people tire easily of a page. And the having to login to comment is another hassle, this is very discouraging for someone that is starting to blog. I've found temporary solutions in the hopes that you would implement some useful changes but, I've been with you for a year and the really important things to me haven't changed at all. Namely:
- The ability to comment without having to login.
- Being able to customize the categories header.
- Being able to add page numbers to custom feed, to end the endless scrolling page...
- Having a bilingual blog
I don't want to go through the trouble of building my site over in another place but I don't see the things that I need getting implemented anytime soon.
I am not ignoring the good things that you have done until now but I can't help but being anxious because these things affect my site and readership performance! I am new at blogging and I already have to worry about coming up with interesting subjects, I don't want to have to stress over my site too...
thank you so much for your sincere and detailed post - we do appreciate your feedback and it is of great importance to know your needs for blog. I added all your requests to the features Wishlist.
We are working on comments system solution to address users needs. Possibility to easily run a multilingual blog is also on the way. We'll definitely have categories menu customisation and pagination features in the future, just as a matter of policy we do not disclose dates of feature arrivals.
Shocked to learn that many of Carla's requested revisions have not been implemented. Namely, ability to comment without logging in. One year and still no fix?? Nothing kills reader participation than a sign up form. If user want deeper participation in the site (e.g. writing permissions) then that's another matter. Admins should have the option to approve comments anyway. Please roll out this fix asap. Thanks!
as mentioned, we are working on the comments system improvement to address Blog users needs. We've collected user feedback and are aware of the comments importance and motives behind the needs and preferred solutions. We are going to iterate and roll out the comments system improvements in phases.
The horror nightmare with your editor continues. Your editor does not allow me to add slides nor add or edit text on the banner BREAKING NEWS that appears on the home page of my https://www.hellobellingham.online website. Where are your experts? This is torture. I am a journalist sharing news headlines and articles with my readers and subscribers. What is the problem with your service? I can only create one Breaking News Slide. What's wrong people? And there are other issues that I will discuss soon. You are the only service that I strugle with and have problems with all the time. I use WeVideo for heavy video creating and editing for the last 4 years and I use Shootproof for heavy photo downloading, I have 3 Twitter sites 3 Facebook sites, I use Google photos a lot and I use many other services and they work wonderfully and never had to contact anybody in their customer service. Please fix my problems now!!!

thank you for sharing your needs. Including your request in the features Wishlist, which we are step by step working to deliver.

Where do I find an index of hashtags in new blog?

Thanks, Simon.
I need to be able to delete categories. I tried to do it but category names continue to show despite the fact that I deleted them. Please help anyone?
Hi Tony,
welcome to Wix Blog Community - a right place to post your question and get answer.
Did you make sure to save the changes and publish the site?
If the changes you made are still not reflected, please share your site URL so we could investigate. Thanks!
