Hm. I didn't realize you couldn't add vector art, the camera icon accepts the .svg type. But you can open the vector art with some other editor that will save it as .jpg; I've used Snagit to take a screenshot of a .svg and saved it as .jpg. Then you can add it by clicking the camera icon. Buttons you might be able to add as a code block, but code block is a recent capability above my pay grade.

I have lots of docs, and I put them on other pages in the site (you aren't restricted to just your blog page!). Create a page just for your cards. On that page put a text line or container box that says "Download Craft1 here", then a photo, then the element button to download the printable doc. Repeat on a new line/box for the next doc. etc. Then when you do the blog post, you include a text link to that page, or the appropriate spot(anchor) on the page. (e.g. "You can download a printable card for this craft by clicking here!") When your readers click on the link, it brings them back to the download page. If your doc page gets too long, make another page and divide by date or by categories (fabric craft page, paper craft page, painting page?) It's also kind of nice in that you end up with your doc page(s) being a nice orderly gallery of your work that people can come back to and browse. That's just an idea, there may be a better way. (There is probably some way to do it with a code block, but that's a relatively recent capability that I don't have the skills for.)

AFAIK you don't get emails sent for new blog posts unless the subscribers go into their profile and turn on SUBSCRIBE. When I tried putting the GET SUBSCRIBERS widget on my footer, people who subscribe go into the CONTACTS list and I can use that list to send an email. But the GET SUBSCRIBERS widget doesn't create a profile for people who register for the blog. Only people who are registered on the blog and actively go in and subscribe get emails for new blog posts. I thought the "new improved" blog was supposed to give us a way the people who register on the blog could be automatically subscribed to new blog posts, but I haven't found a way. My situation is a little odd, our blog is private, i.e. anyone who registers has to be approved by the moderator to join. Don't know if that makes a difference.

That's the way mine works. If you require people to be members (with a login on the BLOG page), only those that you mark as "writers" can create posts.

Maybe that explains it. It certainly seems like the new Blog team doesn't have the support or resources they need from WIX.

What would the point be? I don't think anybody sees this except the people developing the New blog. I think you need to get complaints to the WIX account management/ownership somehow.

I find I am always forced to resize the image and make it square before uploading it to the blog, otherwise when it becomes the cover image it gets cropped in peculiar ways. This is tedious and time-consuming; it would be much better if I understood how things will be cropped but I can find no help on use of images in the blog. Can you direct me to the instructions that explain what size or aspect ratio the photos should have to size properly on the blog? Thanks!

Well if you have spoken with a human, can you explain what the deal is? From all I have seen (and it's been more like a year and a half), the appearance is that WIX simply wants to wash its hands of blog support and has outsourced the blog to a one-man development shop somewhere that unfortunately has never supported a blog before. Otherwise I see no rationale in what is going on, because as you say, this isn't new technology.

No need to apologies, the Help explains nothing! If I had not done something similar with different software, I wouild never have figured this out. Here you are showing Preview mode, that's neither fish nor fowl. Unfortunately right now I'm away from my desktop and can't test this but I believe to change the image you go back to the WIX editor on the page where you created the blog. Click on the top left corner of the blog and you should have a Settings option. It might be in there. Once you publish (not Preview mode), on the live site your 2nd contributor would click the Login/Signup that you see here at the top right. It pops up a registration window and she would put in her email address. If you (the administrator) set up the blog requiring registrations be approved, you will get an email saying you have a new person registering. Pending registrations are shown in teh Dashboard (the page you see when you log in to WIX before you start the Editor). When you check the box that approves the registration, she can then login. FWIW, I created several gmail addresses for myself for testing purposes. I set up the blog, then used my test email addresses to test out what happens when a user tries to register, etc.

I don't find this forum very helpful, either - all complaints, but few answers (though I suspect the reason is ther aren't answers to these issues.) The Help is also bizarre - you can't distinguish between the old blog and the new one and find what you need to know. You mention there is discussion of Wix blog on Twitter - how would I find that?

Hi! The blog help is very limited indeed. And the blog is very limited, so keep it simple. I will take a stab at answering your questions to get this thread started, hopefully others will chime in if they have found better solutions and we can both learn! 1) There are many templates for normal web pages, but no templates for the blog. The best you can do is change the image that appears at the top. 2) It is easy to have 2 contributors. You both register for your blog. As administrator, you can use your same account for the blog or a different one. Once your other contributor registers, you the administrator can go to the list of people who are registered and make that person a "writer", then that person can create posts. 3) After you have registered for the blog and signed in, in the upper right there is a circle with a silhouette. Click on that to change your profile. You can give yourself a nickname if you want, and upload a profile picture. 4) The blog "categories" are really just filters. When you creat a blog post, you have the option of tagging it with a category. Or not. If a reader clicks on the category name, they will see just the posts tagged with that category name. That's all categories do. All posts still appear if someone clicks All Posts or doesnt select a catagory. And I believe someone who is registered to receive email notices for new blog posts will receive them for all new posts, regardless of catagory. There you go. Maybe others will give better answers!

Couldn't agree more. We keep hearing "soon", but the new blog has been out well over a year. It's a big disappointment and the developers appear to have no practical background or experience in blogs or what bloggers need. It's mystifying given how feature-rich the basic WIX components are.
