Ugh! I just migrated to the new Blog. I am SO SORRY THAT I DID!
When I imported the old posts to the new blog, the free-text authors that had previously been added to each blog post were all converted over to be my username (i.e. the unfriendly, username, not my actual name). After some poking around, it suddenly (for reasons I cannot explain) began displaying my real name as the author. And, I began adding contrinutors so that I can go back and edite EVERY FREAKING BLOG POST to add the correct authors to them.
BUT, when I do that, it only displays the username, not the real name. I don't know what to do. It is just a mess. Whoever designed this new blog did a terrible job. Terrible. Is there any help out there? They help system is of no use whatsoever!
Hi Mike,
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your feedback is very valuable to improve our product and migration service.
To change the contributor's name, the contributor has to:
Log in to his account
Open Dashboard -> Blog
Specify his name and upload his photo in a section above the Post list
I hope this will help you solve the problem.
Can you please comment us more about the difficulties you faced with the design? Is there anyhow I can help?
There are a host of problems I have with the designs of the new blog, and particularly the lack of options for changing design elements. On blog feeds, I used to be able to control image sizes, for example. No more an option. When I do things like not display Author (and some other items I do not want displayed) extra space shows up that I cannot eliminate. It seems like a dramatic downgrade from the old blog. Re: Blog contrinutors: I have contributors that are not users and who don't want to be users. So, I have set up email addresses for them exclusively for this purpose. I will see about changing the names as you suggest. To be candid: the need to manage a simple byline in this way is very poorly thought out. Now, having to log in as a fake user to change the display name, is another set of steps to simply add a byline! Really bad. Wish I had not migrated from the old blog.
