Hi All,
Quick question: When I add a link to a blog post, is it automatically a DoFollow link?
The reason I'm asking: I was just using the "Automatic Backlink Checker" Google Chrome extension and apparently the links in my posts are neither labeled as DoFollow nor NoFollow...
Now I wonder why the links are not recognized at all?
I guess that also has an impact on SEO?
Thanks for clarification!
Regards,
Alex
I've been through and unticked the default, published, and nothing has changed. The people I am linking to have said that when links are 'noreferrer', they can't track the traffic generated to the links with Google analytics, and they need to be able to do this. Are there any other options? Does Wix have plans to change this or should I migrate my blog elsewhere? Very frustrating!
hi @Zali Yager,
As in the screenshot above, "Link opens in a new tab" is checked by default. Make sure to uncheck it when adding links.
The two tags you are referring are probably rel="noopener noreferrer"
rel=”noopener” is an HTML attribute that prevents the opening page to gain any kind of access to the original page.
rel="noreferrer" prevents the transfer of information from the http header to the targeted URL. This means that the target site will see the traffic in analytics as direct and not as referral.
These are security tags and both have no direct effect on the SEO of the site.
I am having a similar issue. Just wrote a blog piece fill of links. With each one I only checked the first 'link opens in a new tab' box- all of them are showing up as nonfollow/nonrefer. None of the support articles are helpful. @Julius Seskevicius is this still a known issue? I need a fix ASAP!
@Kimberly Evans links added in the post composer are not marked nofollow by default. You can control nofollow option in the link settings.
I hope this helps.
the links are nofollow by default on my end. I was wondering how to make them dofollow links
Hi Julius,
Thanks for your quick response.
I have tried several other tools such as MozBar, but either way the links in the actual blog post are not recognised.
Could the reason be that the blog is just embedded as an iframe window on the website?
I'm worried that if the links are not recognized properly, it could have an impact on SEO.
I recently linked one of my affiliate websites in a blog post, but apparently the backlink is not working...
Hi Alex,
By default, all links are dofollow links unless they are modified to be nofollow links adding code rel="nofollow" to anchor element. In other simple words, links without nofollow should be dofollow by default. I assume this tool colours only external dofollow links. Check count of DoFollow links and compare to number of links you have not marked.
